The Ohio Treasurer is an elected executive position in the Ohio state government. As the chief financial officer of the state, the treasurer manages the state's money, and acts as the state's banker. The treasurer is the chief financial officer of the state and serves as the state's banker. The most important duty of the treasury is to safeguard the taxpayer's money in Ohio. The office is responsible, among other things, for: managing more than $160 billion in financial assets; investing the state's money and manage an investment portfolio that exceeds $15 billion; tracking and maintaining a database of all unclaimed property in Ohio; providing financial advice to state agencies; providing financial education and resources. The salary for this position is $109,986/year.

The required forms include a Declaration of Candidacy; a filing fee; Petitions; and other office specific forms. The filing fee and petition requirements vary by office. Please inquire about these office specific requirements with the elections office. File these papers as directed by the elections office, which may vary depending upon the type of district you plan to run in. If the district encompasses a single part of a county, you will file with the county. If the district has parts of multiple counties you will file with the Ohio Secretary of State Elections Office. 3) Submit the filing forms by the 90th day before the Ohio primary election if you intend to appear on a partisan primary ballot. If you plan to run as an independent or in a non partisan race, submit the filing forms prior to the day of the Ohio primary in order to appear on the general election ballot. The Ohio primary is held the second Tuesday after the first Monday in March during presidential years, and in all other years the Ohio primary is held on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in the month of May.
